Fungi, Plastic, & The Future of Pollution

For decades, ecosystems across the world have been facing the onslaught of industrial pollution, and have been suffering dramatically as a result. From oil spills, to pesticides, to heavy metals - these anthropogenic substances are causing worldwide ecosystem collapses at an alarming rate.

Recent discoveries of the ability of fungi to break down many toxins reveal the potential for healing our wounded planet and leaving a positive legacy for future generations. What’s more, certain species may even hold the keys to breaking down civilisation’s most notorious substance: plastic.
